Dear Cowan Families,

Welcome to the start of a new school year at Cowan Fundamental!   I want to take a moment to extend my warmest greetings to new and returning families.  It is an honor to serve as your principal.

We are a unique community of learners!  Each one of us has something that makes us special.  We come from different families, cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.  What we all have in common is being here, at Cowan to work, learn from each other, and grow into the best versions of ourselves. 

At Cowan Fundamental, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education that equips our students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. As part of this commitment, we will prioritize the subject of Math. Math is a critical skill that is used in every day life.  We have two new Math curriculums to support learning this year: TK-5 will use Thinking Math! and Grade 6 will use Amplify Desmos.

Additionally, we will maintain our focus on our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. This initiative emphasizes the importance of creating a positive and inclusive school culture where students feel safe, respected, and valued. Our PBIS expectations, which promote responsibility, respect, and kindness, will guide students in making good choices and developing essential social and emotional skills.

To enhance the learning experience further, we have planned various enrichment activities, guest speakers, and Parent Teacher Club (PTC) community events throughout the year. These opportunities will enable our students to explore their passions, discover new interests, and cultivate a sense of belonging within our school community.

As the principal of Cowan Fundamental, I am honored to work alongside our dedicated team of teachers and staff who are committed to providing the best possible education for your children. We value the partnership between home and school, and I encourage open communication between caregivers and teachers. Together, we can ensure the success of each student and foster a strong support system that helps them thrive academically and personally.
